Frequently asked questions
-
Please complete our contact form or call the office. Our team will help you select the appropriate appointment and explain what to expect before your visit.
-
Comprehensive new patient visits are 90 minutes and include a discussion of your dental concerns, review of your health history, and a comprehensive oral evaluation.
Emergency visits greatly vary, depending on the nature of the complaint, and focus on identifying the problem, completing necessary diagnostics, and planning next steps. Same-day treatment is not guaranteed and, depending on complexity, may require a future visit or referral to a specialist.
-
We are happy to review recent X-rays from another office, though additional images may be needed based on their age or diagnostic quality. X-rays are essential to a comprehensive evaluation, as many conditions cannot be detected visually. We cannot provide an examination or consultation if necessary X-rays are declined. Patients may postpone their visit until they are comfortable proceeding.
-
A regular cleaning is often included with your first visit, provided your gums and supporting bone are healthy. Following guidance from the American Dental Association (ADA) and American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), we recommend care appropriate to your periodontal condition. If periodontal therapy is needed, it will be discussed and scheduled separately rather than performing a regular cleaning that day.
-
If you may require antibiotic prophylaxis before dental treatment, please consult your treating physician before your visit. Your physician should provide either the prescription or written clearance that antibiotics are not required. Treatment may be postponed until appropriate medical guidance is received.
-
Please contact our office to reschedule if you are experiencing a contagious illness or condition, including:
COVID-19, flu, or other respiratory illness
Fever or significant cold symptoms
An active cold sore or oral herpes outbreak
Vomiting or diarrhea
Other contagious infections
If you are unsure whether you should keep your appointment, please contact our office before your visit. Our goal is to maintain a safe environment for all patients and staff.
